Spotlight on Josh Williams - 1year and 1 million dollars

Josh Williams is trying to make one million dollars in 1yr time using what he learned from the Secret. Here's an interview I did with him:

What gave you the courage to quit your job? Was it just reading the One Minute Millionaire, or did something else inspire you?

How did you meet up with your mentor?

Thanks for your enquiry. I would like to explore opportunities to work closer together with a strategic alliance. I got the courage to quit my job when I really started to value my time and I realized that I had nothing to lose by taking this jump. I called it a leap of faith and this was a big step in my journey towards creating my first million, but I guess the biggest thing that helped me take this leap was securing a part time contract – not job – with a client that needed a marketing manager on contract. I started to work around 15 – 20 hours per week on an hourly rate that was three times my previous rate on a salary. This meant I could work half the time I was, have the freedom to do what I want and pursue other opportunities, and also earn a decent wage for doing so. This stemmed from reading the One Minute Millionaire, but also from the words of wisdom that I get from my mentor, Croz. You can actually track this journey on my website from day one, but you could also go to youtube and search for the happy secret and you’ll see a few videos there about this.

I met up with my mentor through no coincidence, or no random chance, I believe this was a perfect example of the law of attraction working in my life. I often refer to the famous quote when the student is ready the teacher will come. If you watch the video ‘ launch of the happy secret’ you can see how we started this project, but to give you some detail in writing it started with a call I made to Croz to tell him about my rough plans to write a book about becoming a millionaire and prove the theories of The Secret and The One Minute Millionaire. After a bit of convincing on the phone, Croz agreed to meet with me for a coffee – this turned into hours of discussion and I remember one thing he said – if you do what I say you will earn your million. Easy. He then gave me a copy of The Science of Getting Rich. It was really great timing for him because he just sold his business and was ready to promote his knowledge as a global authority on The Law of Attraction and The Science of Getting Rich. He has all the knowledge, I have all the energy. Together we work very well as a team and the dynamics between us make every meeting entertaining, inspiring and insightful for me.

What will I do when I reach my goal? I like the way you phrased that question. Before September 30, 2008, I plan to climb a mountain in Malaysia that I visited a few years back and watch a sunrise from there, but beyond that I guess finish my book and organize the publishing and distribution of the book and the dvd of my documentary, and share my story with as many people as possible. I am working on many very exciting business ideas at the moment that will all make a significant social contribution which is great and I see myself continuing to follow these opportunities and further growing these businesses. Essentially, I will have a share in several successful companies and spend a majority of my time spreading the word about this story because I will prove anyone can become a millionaire and achieve financial freedom – I guess I’ll then be on my path to becoming a multi millionaire (if I am not one already by that stage!)

In 5 years time, well I’ll be 30 by then, definitely in a position where I could retire, but I won’t because I love my work so much it is never work for me, and I see myself probably starting to settle down with a family. I look forward to a lifestyle of travelling, being an international presenter, and having the time to watch my kids grow up. Not that I’m planning for kids now, but when I do have a family, I like the idea of being able to make the choices that financial freedom provides. Money does not inspire me, but having choices does. I don’t want to spend money with my family, time is much more important. People are the most valuable things in my life and family is invaluable.

Interview with Kumiko from Kumiko's Cash Quest

>1. What got you interested in blogging? I've always had an interest in reading other people's blogs as I think that they're a fantastic way to learn about other people, cultures and lifestyles. Recently, I've been reading a lot of "information" blogs written by people who are experts in their industry. It's great to be able to contact these people easily and communicate with them. It's so much easier to contact a top blogger than a top celebrity! I became interested in blogging myself after finding some other "make money online" blogs that were generating a decent income. At first I thought, "I can do that!"...and then I thought, "I can do that better!" so I decided to 'put my money where my mouth is' and give it a go.
>2. How long have you been blogging for? Kumiko's Cash Quest is my first serious attempt at a blog and it was launched on December 31st, 2006. Just in time for the new year! I've had some other static sites in the past so it's not my first time publishing on the internet. However, blogging is definitely a greater challenge!
> 3. Where did you come up with the idea to make money online? The first site I visited on the topic was My Quest To Make Money On The http://westen30.blogspot.com/) which doesn't appear to be running anymore. That site inspired me to try out making money through online means. As I visited more sites and learned a lot about all the different programs and strategies on offer, I quickly realized that there were some severe shortages in the market that I could hopefully fill. I did about a whole month of research and reading before I started Kumiko's Cash Quest
>4. Do you have any people or blogs that inspire you? Many! I'd have to say that Finding The Money http://findingthemoney.blogspot.com/),http://www.johnchow.com) http://maddox.xmission.com) are some of the most "inspirational" as they simply don't seem to care about what people think about what they write. It's amazing the negative feedback that the blogosphere can produce if you write something that's a little controversial or against the norm. Everybody comes out and says, "that will hurt your traffic" or "your blog will get a bad reputation". The irony is that writing 'safe' posts that are carbon copies of other sites hurts you more. Sometimes you need to be thick skinned as a blogger as it's easy for commentators to write negative things about you. They can devote whole posts to how wrong they think you are! The above blogs inspire me to keep doing what *I* think is right and not worry about the negative comments!
>5. What's your ultimate goal? Are you shooting for a certain amount of money or want to blog as professional writer? I want to be ranked number one in Google for EVERY search term!!
>6. Why should people check out Kumiko's Cash Quest? There's no other site exactly like it. Or at least not as pink!! And they may learn a trick or two to make a dollar online.
>7. Do you have one blog or many? At the moment I have two main blogs. There's my biggest site, Kumiko's Cash Quest http://kumikosuzuki.blogspot.com) and my recently launched Blog http://www.bloginterview.net) that interviews bloggers from all over the blogosphere. Blog Interview Interview is still getting off the ground and growing, but I believe it's a concept that has a lot of potential.
>8. What are some tips for people who are just starting out? If you want to create a personal blog for yourself, go for it! It's fun! If you want to create a blog to be read by others, you need to read as many other blogs as you can and learn as much as you can about blogging before you even start to write. Write stuff that nobody else is writing and then promote it every respectable way that you can!
>9. How many entries do you post a day on average? I rarely post more than once a day. I try not to think about post frequency and just write whenever there is something that I want to write about. I think blogs where the author is posting because they feel obliged to update are usually not the best blogs out there. However, I make an effort to post my blog earnings every Friday!
>10. Where are most of your reader's from? Initially most of my readers from Malaysia and the Philippines. They showed me a lot of support and I thank them for it! Recently, I've managed to crack the USA market a little and now about 40% of my readers are from the USA.
